Child, Worob lead Wildcats at Mountain RegionalsPublished by
OGDEN, Utah The Weber State men's and women's cross country teams concluded their seasons Friday morning at the NCAA Mountain Region cross country championships. Neither team placed in the top two, which would have given them an automatic bid into the Championships. The men's team took eighth while the women took ninth.
lt;br />The University of Colorado won both the men's and women's title. The Northern Arizona men and New Mexico won earned the other bids.
lt;br />The men's team was led by the 23rd place finish by Tip Worob, who covered the 10,000 meter course in 30:23.77. He was one spot away from qualifying for the Championships as an. Trevor Ricks and Mike Hardy were close behind, finishing 28th and 36th respectively.
lt;br />Jason Kearns and Tyler Robinson rounded out the top five for the Wildcats finishing 50th and 54th respectively.
lt;br />"Tip ran really well and just missed qualifying by three seconds," WSU head coach Paul Pilkington said. "Jason Kearns also ran really well. Our region is going to send seven teams to the Championships and we were just out of by placing eighth."
lt;br />The women's team was led by the 27th place finish by Ellie Child, who covered the 6,000 meter course in 22:03.47. She was followed by Jamie Stokes, who finished 33rd finishing in a time of 22:09.24. Hailey Ricks, Taylor Cox and Amanda Ward finished out the top five, finishing 43rd, 70th and 74th respectively.
