This was a very interesting meet. This was essentially a kick-off meet for training for all of the members of the NCAA favorite men's and women's cross country teams. Many athletes were there to just sign post-race autographs for the kids that came to watch and run in the fun run. The women's race featured two 2007 all-American transfers, Melissa Grelli and Mattie Bridgmon.

What was interesting about Grelli's and Bridgmon's appearance was that they did not have to run.  The expectations for this team are so high and everyone except Sarah Pearson is back so I think Grelli and Coffman wanted to show they belong on the team.  A sort of putting the time in for the team, as in running the first race. 

Now they spend three weeks at Sunriver getting ready for the Dellinger invite. 

Also of interest was that Jordan McNamara has a stress fracture in his navicular bone and will be out for another three weeks.  He expects to be back by championship season.  He and the coaching staff determined that this had been hurt all of last season - at least he can heal now.
