Richard Goodman in Kenya following silver in Velenje Posted By Joe on February 1, 2012 Shaftesbury Barnet’s Richard Goodman narrowly missed out on winning the gold medal in the European Cross Country Under-20 race in Velenje, Slovenia, back in December. We caught up with Goodman, now living in Eldoret in Kenya ahead of the summer track season, to talk about the race and his goals for the year. L1: Great run in Velenje last month. Did the race go as you thought it would? RG: I was confident going into the race, I kept reminding myself of all the early mornings and hard training sessions I’d completed in the run up to the championships, that really helped me during the race to stay positive even when the pace picked up. When I was in the lead group with a lap to go, I really thought I could win just as I’d planned. Finishing in second was fantastic.
