BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College head men's and women's track & field coach Jamie Ness has announced that Becky Allen and Jesse Combs have signed their National Letter of Intents to join the Lady Bulldog and Bulldog track & field programs, respectively. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Union freshman John Luther captured the men's most outstanding athlete award at the 2011 Appalachian Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, which was held today at Sidney Smallwood Track. As a team, both Union men's and women's teams finished second overall at the meet.Westmont Women's Cross Country, ranked at number 16 in the NAIA, placed third at the Golden State Athletic Championship on Saturday. The Westmont men's team finished fifth out of eight teams. Freshman Kelley Collins placed fifth in the women's 5,000 meter race in a time of 18:00, a season best and a team record time on the course. "Kelly went out strong from the gun, as she was supposed to," said Westmont head coach Russell Smelley. "She ran most of the race by herself in a gap between the front four and the next four who were chasing her."
