Canadian 1,500/5,000 Record Holder Adds More Firepower To BTC By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor The deep roster of the Nike Bowerman Track Club will add another global medal contender with the addition of Canada's Gabriela DeBues-Stafford. The BTC made the announcement on Instagram, one night after staging its third instrasquad meet at Portland's Jesuit High School. DeBues-Stafford has laid claim to being the greatest female Canadian distance runner after breaking national records in the 1,500 meters (3:56.12) and 5,000 (14:44.12) in 2019. DeBues-Stafford's 1,500 record came in her sixth-place finish at last year's World Athletics Championships in Doha, the same race where Shelby Houlihan placed fourth and broke the American record (3:54.99). She is expected to move to the Portland area, and join forces with Houlihan and coaches Jerry Schumacher and Shalane Flanagan, in the fall, along with Oklahoma State graduate and 2019 NCAA Division 1 1,500 champion Sinclaire Johnson.
