Marcus Weaver added to his legacy as one of the most versatile competitors in NCAA Division 3 history Friday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Weaver became the first competitor in the division last season to capture decathlon and javelin championships in the same year.

The Wisconsin-Eau Claire standout completed the unique double again Friday, defending his decathlon title with 7,486 points to become the first athlete to repeat since Ethan Miller of Central in Iowa in 2011-12.

Weaver, who prevailed last year with 7,510 points in Greensboro, N.C., repeated in the javelin Thursday with a 219-9 (67.00m) effort to become the first competitor since Seth Nonnemacher of George Fox in 2017-18 to capture back-to-back crowns.

Keaton Wood of Linfield improved from ninth last year to place runner-up with 7,216 points.

Kennady Gibbins of Mount Union ascended from seventh last season to win the heptathlon championship with 5,244 points.

Hannah Zenkovich of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, who took third last year, was runner-up with 5,101 points.

Kyle Rollins of St. John Fisher in New York continued his dominance in the high jump, capturing a second straight outdoor crown and third in a row overall, including the indoor title in March, with a second-attempt clearance at 7-1 (2.16m).

Brianna Leahy of Wisconsin-Platteville and Catie Fobbe of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, who were 15th and 16th in last year’s shot put final, elevated to the top two spots Friday.

Leahy prevailed with a second-round mark of 51-2.25 (15.60m) and Fobbe also produced her top performance on her second attempt, achieving a 49-5.50 (15.07m) effort.

Joseph White of Carthage, who only competed in the discus final at last year’s national meet and placed 10th in the indoor shot put championship, won with a sixth-round effort of 58-6.75 (17.85m).

Kevin Ruechel of Wisconsin-Stout, last year’s champion, took the lead in the fifth round at 57-8.25 (17.58m), before White’s thrilling final-round performance.

Kimmy McPherson of MIT, making her national finals debut in the high jump, cleared 5-7.75 (1.72m) on her first attempt to edge Grace Alley of Loras and Breya Christopher of Wartburg, who both secured clearances at the height on their third opportunities.

Alley earned the tiebreaker for second based on fewer attempts at earlier heights.
