The unbelievable Bolt from Jamaica

What an amazing pair of runs by Usain Bolt.  The 100 meters was sad in that I and many in the audience wanted to see him run faster than the 9.69 that he posted.  If he hadn't celebrated 15 meters out from the finish he would have probably run under 9.60.  He did this without measurable wind.  Based on the times behind him I think the wind measurement was legitimate.  He still does not start very well and it takes him a while to get to full speed but when he gets to his top speed there is no one in the world that can stay with him.  His history showed that he would be better in the 200 and he did not disappoint.

His 200 meter in 19.30 was by almost .70 seconds was ridiculous.  The runners he beat are among the fastest ever yet their times were slowed by a .9 m/s head-wind.  He worked hard the entire race in order to break the world record.  He didn't seem to strain and stayed relaxed.  I could see him running low 9.5 and 19.2.  I would love to see him run a 300 meters and see what kind of world record he can set and then run a 400 meters.  It is a different kind of race requiring patience and strategy but it is likely that nothing could stop him.

This was the greatest sprint double ever and the only time both records have been set in the same Olympics.  He will be only 25 at the next Olympics but it is unlikely he will repeat.  He could be the first to do that too and that would truly make him legendary in track and field annals.  Maybe he will do the Michael Johnson double next time and win the 200 and 400.  Whatever he does next will truly be interesting and exciting.

Stay Tuned for the next chapter in the Usain Bolt story, you may never see anything like this again.
