Maddy Elmore, a sophomore at Oregon, won the top section of the women's 5,000 meters in a lifetime-best 15:15.79 at the Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track and Angell Field in Palo Alto, Calif. Elmore eclipsed the program record and elevated to the No. 9 all-time collegiate outdoor 5,000 competitor. She took down the 1985 performance of 15:23.03 established by Oregon Hall of Fame inductee Kathy Hayes. Only Jessica Hull has run faster as an Oregon athlete on the collegiate all-dates list with her 15:00.32 effort in 2019 at the ISTAF Berlin event in Germany.
